MARKHAM, Ontario (June 19, 2019) – For the second year in a row, Genesis placed first in the J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) among all automotive brands. With a score of 63 problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), Genesis led both the premium segment as well as the overall industry in initial quality.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for the industry’s highest quality by J.D. Power for the second consecutive year – particularly because we are a relatively young brand,” said Manfred Fitzgerald, Executive Vice President and Global Head of the Genesis Brand. “This is a testament of our promise to deliver the most desirable products for our customers. We will continue to hold our products, brand, and customer experience to the highest standards in all facets.”
The Genesis brand’s score of 63 PP100 represents a year-over-year improvement of five points. G70, which scored 60 PP100 in its first sales year – more than 30 points better than the average for its segment – was recognized for its performance, advanced technologies, and easy-to-use infotainment system.
“Just as Genesis is committed to providing our customers a stress-free ownership experience, we also recognize the critical importance of fielding an exceptional product line-up,” said Richard Trevisan, Brand Director of Genesis Motors Canada. “The brand’s strong result in this year’s IQS is proof positive of our world-class expertise in design, engineering, and manufacturing.
The IQS study, now in its fourth decade, serves as the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership. The 2019 survey is based on responses from 76,256 purchasers and lessees of new, 2019 model-year vehicles, which is designed to provide manufacturers with information to facilitate the identification of problems and drive product improvement.
